Panel Capacity

Every electrical panel has a limited amount of capacity to distribute safely. Some homes have enough available capacity for a dedicated EV circuit right now. Others don't — which is common in older homes or homes with a lot of existing electrical demand. We evaluate your panel's actual capacity before recommending any equipment.

Dynamic Load Management

Dynamic load management is a device-level system that automatically adjusts EV charging current based on your home's real-time electrical usage. In some cases this can allow higher-powered EV charging without an immediate panel upgrade. It doesn't always eliminate the need for one — whether it's a good fit depends on your home's panel and usage.

When a Main Panel Upgrade Makes Sense

If your panel doesn't have enough available capacity — and dynamic load management isn't the right fit for how you use your EV — a main panel upgrade may be the most straightforward path. We'll walk you through the honest tradeoffs before recommending one.

California Utility Incentives

Depending on which utility serves your property, incentives may be available. We'll help you check what applies to your address.

Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E)

Much of Northern and Central California, including the Central Valley.

Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD)

Sacramento County and portions of the surrounding region.

Southern California Edison (SCE)

Much of Southern California outside the LADWP and San Diego service areas.

Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP)

City of Los Angeles.

More than one utility may serve properties in the same city. The utility that actually serves your address determines which programs apply — not just your city or ZIP code.
